Episode 8 - Global Knit at TNNA 2010

In this episode we are at TNNA 2010.  We discuss charity knitting with a Columbus, Ohio based organization, Global Knit.  If you would like to help or donate to their cause, contact them at globalknits.org.

If you would like to see what's hot this fall in the fiber arts, view the TNNA Fashion Show .  I'll have to admit, we were not as impressed as last year.  They were lacking on the men's wear but there is still plenty of eye candy.  Drop us a line and let us know what you think.

Episode 4 - What? Alpaca & Beets?!

Sorry we had some audio problems in the beginning of the podcast but is smooths out in the first 3 minutes of the show.

In this week's episode, we discuss alpaca fiber.  We play with both suri & huacaya fibers.  We use the Buckeye nut as our natural soap product and compare it with the commercial wash SOAP.  In our section on dyeing, we attempt to achieve a red color from beets and beet concentrate.  We also use common tobacco as our natural insecticide.

As always, kits are available so you can play along.  Select the "Play Along" tab and forward us you information. You can sign up for a paid subscription and receive an automatic monthly shipment so you always have your kit when you're ready to play.

Welcome

I'm so excited, we are days from launching our first podcast! There is so much information I want to share with you that it's hard to keep it under an hour. There's information on dyeing, both with natural and commercial dyes. My favorite part is scouring a fleece with natural plant material or maybe it's the natural insecticide. I don't know.

Oh, did I mention the study kits. Each episode has an accompanying study kit. You can play along. Each kit has fiber, dye, wool wash, herbal insecticide sachet, plant material, dye & herbal recipes, information on the specific breed and a organizer to hold everything.

I want to share my passion for fiber & gardening with you. Feel free to suggest a fiber or a plant for us to study together. I'll talk to you soon.
