Episode 4 - What? Alpaca & Beets?!

Sorry we had some audio problems in the beginning of the podcast but is smooths out in the first 3 minutes of the show.

In this week's episode, we discuss alpaca fiber.  We play with both suri & huacaya fibers.  We use the Buckeye nut as our natural soap product and compare it with the commercial wash SOAP.  In our section on dyeing, we attempt to achieve a red color from beets and beet concentrate.  We also use common tobacco as our natural insecticide.

As always, kits are available so you can play along.  Select the "Play Along" tab and forward us you information. You can sign up for a paid subscription and receive an automatic monthly shipment so you always have your kit when you're ready to play.

I enjoy being able to study about fibers, and especially learn new tricks to the trade! I haven't always gotten the study materials, but on this episode I did and it made things more leisurely while learning! I am excited to be able to put everything to practice as I'm new to the world of textiles and fibers!
